Ten Shimano Deore speeds with an 11–42T cassette leave reserve for a long climb and for a fast stretch of flat alike. The heart of this model is the GTMRK 367A AIR RLR-S air fork. Air instead of a coil means stiffness is tuned to rider weight with a pump rather than by swapping a cartridge, and the lockout is routed by cable to the handlebar: you can switch the travel off before a tarmac section without taking a hand off the bar. SHIMANO BR-MT200 hydraulic brakes answer to a single finger, and Kenda K1127A 29*2.20 tyres hold on dry dirt and on a wet root. The 21" frame suits riders 176–198 cm tall.
