Nothing tells you more about a bike than a few years in the saddle — no brochure comes close. One of our customers sent us something worth a dozen promises: a screenshot from his app showing 39,451 kilometres on his Hartman.
This was not one big ride for the record books. It is the distance built up over four-plus seasons — the commute to work and back, weekends out of town, rides in the rain and in the cold. Ordinary life, in which the bike simply works, day after day.
The app broke the distance down by year, and the numbers speak for themselves:
That averages out at nearly 7,900 km a season. Plenty of drivers do not cover that much in a year.
Forty thousand kilometres means thousands of hours of vibration, thousands of potholes and kerbs, changing seasons and road salt. All of it lands on the frame and fork first. For a bike to cover that distance and stay in service, the geometry has to hold and the welds have to take the load year after year.
That is exactly why we give a two-year warranty on the frame and fork: these are the parts that decide whether a bike lasts one season or ten. Our customer's story is firmly the second kind.
